As the year 2020 came to a close, the carpooling and ridesharing app industry in the United Kingdom experienced various trends in user engagement and app downloads on the Android platform. Data from Sensor Tower offers a snapshot of the performance of the top apps in this category during the fourth quarter.

Uber - Request a ride saw a fluctuating trend in downloads, starting at approximately 17K in the last week of September and peaking at around 18K in late October. Downloads then decreased to roughly 11K by the end of December. Weekly active users began at nearly 500K, dipped in November to around 386K, and then rose in early December to approximately 567K before falling back to about 407K by year's end.

Bolt: Request a Ride also experienced a decline in downloads, from around 14K at the quarter's start to about 6K at its conclusion. The app's weekly active users showed a slight increase from 91K to 96K in mid-October, subsequently declining to 82K by the end of December.

For Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver, downloads were relatively stable, hovering between 4K and 7K throughout the quarter. The app's weekly active users showed a more variable pattern, peaking at over 56K in mid-November before dropping to around 50K at the quarter's end.

Moving on to Ola, Safe and affordable rides, downloads saw a downward trend from approximately 6K in late September to around 3K by the end of December. Weekly active users exhibited a slight growth from about 103K to nearly 100K by the third week of December, then declining to 91K.

Lastly, the Ola Driver app had a modest presence in terms of downloads, starting with 821 in late September and ending with 843 in the final week of December. Its active users showed a small increase from nearly 5K to just over 5.6K in early December, before decreasing to 4.9K.
